Some people like the idea of discovering “who they really are.” I, on the other hand, am motivated by the prospect of finding “what I was made to do.” And God shows us these things as we try to follow Him.
I’ve begun to discover what I’m meant to do through Outpour, the church plant that Jean and I attend and help lead. A key component of Outpour’s vision is that God invites all of us to participate in His story. One of the ways this plays out is through the formation of a teaching team that rotates in presenting the message each week.
As we put in the effort to train and prepare together, I found a real sense of joy and satisfaction. And with each opportunity to preach, I’ve felt a greater and greater conviction that part of what I’ve been “made to do” is to share Jesus in this manner. I still have much to learn, but I can sense God growing my relationship with scripture, I can see Him using us to speak to others, and I can feel Him with me each time I share. I love it.
And if you’d like to get a glimpse of this, you can listen to the audio from each week’s message (including mine) at Outpour’s website!
